Aarti Gupta
Wageningen University
Radical transparency in global environmental governance
Aarti Gupta is Professor of Global Environmental Governance at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. Her research focuses on questions of transparency and accountability in global environmental and climate governance, and the challenges of anticipatory governance of novel technologies, such as biotechnology and climate engineering. She has published widely on these topics, including the co-edited Transparency in Global Environmental Governance: Critical Perspectives (2014, MIT Press).
Aarti is a member of the International Scientific Steering Committee of the Earth System Governance (ESG) research alliance, and associate editor of the journal Global Environmental Politics. She holds a PhD from Yale University’s Department of Forestry and Environmental Studies, with a background in political science, international relations, and science and technology studies.
